Candidates across Pennsylvania will have to hold their breath a bit longer. They won’t know until at least Wednesday whether their nominating petitions will be challenged.

Governor Tom Wolf signed an executive order pushing the deadline to challenge both statewide and municipal offices.  The deadline will be pushed forward one day for each day the courts or offices are closed.  The deadline will not be extended past 5 p.m. on March 16th.

“Tuesday’s potentially severe snowstorm has caused the closure of the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg, PA, including the Department of State’s Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation, and is likely to cause the closure of courts and county election offices across the commonwealth,” the email from the Department of State read.

The inclement weather also pushed back the ballot lottery, scheduled for Wednesday, when candidates learn their position on the ballot. It will be held March 17th at 10 a.m. instead.
